East meets West – People, Places and Objects in and around West Midlands – Photography Competition
We are thrilled to be collaborating with Birmingham Museums Trust for the China West Midlands 2020 photography competition, the theme of which is photos of West Midlands where ‘East Meets West’.
The exhibition will be held in the Museum of the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham. The main exhibition will feature 25 framed images which will be displayed from January to June 2020.
The exhibition will feature images people, places and objects in and around West Midlands. It offers vast possibilities for photographers to explore the theme of East meets West from simple, every-day subjects, to highly complex cultural identities.
How to be featured in the exhibition:
Entries should be submitted via email to firstname.lastname@example.org
All entries should be labelled with entrant’s name, email address, a title of the photograph, and one short sentence to explain how the image fits the theme.
Images must be of the following dimensions and quality, in order for them to be appropriately printed, framed and displayed: High resolution JPEG format, minimum 10 MP and minimum 4MB.
A maximum of 3 images may be submitted.
The competition will run from 15 July to 20 October 2019.
A panel of judges, to include representatives from Birmingham Museums Trust and China West Midlands Steering Group, will select the 25 images to be included in the main exhibition.

An overall winner will be selected, this image and all images selected for the exhibition may be used in marketing materials relating to the show. Photographers that are to be featured in the main exhibition will be contacted in early December 2019 and the exhibition will open on 9 January 2020. Winners will be involved to attend a private viewing on the evening of 9 January 2020.
